I had this

English homework, and I had to pick between three topic. I tried the first on efinished it and didn't like it, so I did the second, finished and didn't like it, here is the third, and I am turning it in tomorrow, so I hope no one has any suggestions.

In one corner we have the Anglo-Saxon hero, and in the other, there is your American “hero.” Let the battle commence. No! Man, what’s this; the American is goin’ down. Five, four, three, two, one…*the bell rings. * But the Americans are not surprised, they just move on to their next hero, whether it is sex, drugs, or alcohol. This is my depiction of America’s modern hero, vs. the heroes of the Anglo-Saxon.

Most Americans would readily agree that Jesus is their hero, however, the American Jesus is a lie. The “Jesus” that is preached is one that loves you no matter what, he wants you to be happy, and to bless you. He has the aesthetic value that Americans are looking for, the “pretty blue eyes, curly brown hair, and clear complexion.” He promises love, joy, peace, and happiness that he can never give, and he possesses all the qualities Americans think their hero needs. But, as you saw he doesn’t win. Why… because he doesn’t exist. He is a lie brought up from the pit of hell, and he is dragging thousands of Americans back to where he came from.

The real hero that America is looking for has already saved the day, and won the battle. They just don’t like the message that He preaches, a message of personal holiness, and righteousness, being in the world, but not of it. He died and bore the sins of the world; He covered Himself in your vomit, so much so, that His Father could not even look at Him. So you see that the real American Jesus is holy, and He won’t compromise His witness with the “hate the sin, love the sinner” message. He hates the sin, and the sinner for his sin, and He is sending them to hell every day; and the people hate Him because of it. So, they make their own hero, a Jesus that allows them to justify their sin. They turn their back on the one, true, holy Hero, spit on Him, and slap Him, because they love their sin, and want to stay in it.

Compare the American’s hero to the heroes of the Anglo-Saxons, and the Anglo-Saxons will come out on top every time. They will conquer because the American hero is weak. He is all talk with no power. Don’t get me wrong; both are strong and handsome, both save the day, and rescue the town. They’re lifted high, and honored for their bravery, so it is not a matter of strength. The American hero cannot win because he is simply a figment of the people’s imagination. He can never win because the real American hero has already won, and not even the Anglo Saxons hero can beat him. The power of the cross is too strong for any hero, devil, or spirit to overcome. With just one look the real Jesus can bring the Anglo-Saxon hero to his knees. He will always prevail where the true Christian battles.

  1. Ah, so here is the point of controversy... I do love how you don't mince words, or shrink from what you want to say! TRUTH loud and clear. This reminded me of a verse in Rom. 2, I just looked it up... http://www.blueletterbible.org/tmp_dir/c/1156999329-6560.html, but Yes, everything you have said is correct, hard to swallow at times, but certainly the truth. People NEED to hear it just so. I know I don't WANT to tell people the TRUTH a lot of the time, but rather a watered down/don't want to offend you "truth". But what is that? We have been given SUCH a gift from God to know what we know. It is not merely a option, but a command! to freely give to others what we have received. Tonight Mrs. Sharon, Bekah, and I were talking about a lot of various things (puzzles to our finite human numbskulls), but on the way home I started thinking/God prompted, that perhaps the answer is, "It is OUR responsibility/ God's Hands in the earth" to do many of these things that we say, "God, why is this like it is?" Anyway, my finite little mind is shutting down, will post again soon Jordi... Love YA!
